Week 2 of the Texas high school football season is here.

Southlake Carroll vs. North Crowley, 7 p.m. Friday at Crowley ISD Stadium

Both Class 6A No. 6 Southlake Carroll and No. 4 North Crowley had big opening-day wins last week. The Dragons rallied from a 27-point deficit to stun Oklahoma power Jenks, 34-33.

North Crowley stymied Aledo to welcome the Bearcats to Class 6A. The Panthers shut out Aledo, 26-0, and held the Bearcats to minus-17 yards rushing and 174 total yards.

Against North Crowley, the Dragons may lean heavily on wide receiver Brody Knowles, a strong receiver corps and quarterback Hudson Tomcheck. Knowles had seven catches for 176 yards and a pair of TDs last week while Tomcheck threw for 318 yards completing 20 of 27 passes and two touchdowns.

But North Crowley has a stellar secondary which includes Brayden Cunningham, who had a 65-yard pick-six against Aledo. The Dragons only rushed for 19 yards on 28 carries against Jenks.

Burleson Centennial at Burleson, 7 p.m. Friday

It’s another edition of The Battle of the Boot as Burleson Centennial and Burleson square off for city bragging rights. Centennial leads the series 8-6 and had won three-straight before the Elks took the boot back last season with a 45-21 win.

Centennial took care of Weatherford last week with a 31-21, road win. The Spartans will look to run the ball against Burleson while the Elks did most of their damage through the air in Week 1.

Jonas Kennedy threw for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but the Elks got thumped by Keller 55-14.

Mansfield vs. Mansfield Summit, 7 p.m. Friday at Newsom Stadium

Another big cross-town, throw down will happen on Friday at Newsom Stadium as Mansfield and Mansfield Summit square off for the 23rd time. Mansfield leads the series 12-10 and had won three straight before Summit thumped the Tigers 34-14 a year ago.

Both teams lost heartbreakers last week as Mansfield dropped a 38-35 decision to Arlington Martin. Summit caught the turnover bug as the Jaguars lost to Red Oak 20-15.

Summit coach Channon Hall loves defense and will have to slow down a Tiger offense that piled up 392 total yards — 245 on the ground led by Raymond Weaver (13 carries, 103 yards), against Martin.

FW Diamond Hill-Jarvis vs. FW North Side, 7 p.m. Friday at Farrington Field

A pair of schools that sit just 3.6 miles apart face off at Farrington Field on Friday night. North Side has dominated this series 11-0 when the teams have played since 2008, mostly with lop-sided victories.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis played a competitive game a season ago, dropping an 18-8 decision, so the Eagles are hopeful of a win. DH-J opened the season with a 38-6 win over Dallas A Plus Academy.

North Side took it on the chin, losing to River Oaks Castleberry 62-14 last week. Brandon Johnson and Howard Blackmore had the scores for the Steers.

Brock vs. Anna, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Coyote Stadium

Brock, No. 6 in Class 4A Division II according to Dave Campbell’s rankings, won a huge game last week against 4A DI No. 3 Springtown 42-20, and there’s no rest for the weary as the Eagles travel to take on No. 5A DII No. 3 Anna.

Holt Frazier went 16 of 22 passing for 232 yards and three touchdowns against Springtown, with Bryer McDonald scoring three times as well on an 18 for 95 yard rushing night.

Anna rolled past Colleyville Heritage 49-31 behind quarterback Zephyr Kreye who threw for 231 yards, completing 19 of 24 tosses, and four touchdowns. Brock will also have to try to contain Juelz Carter who led the Coyotes with 136 yards rushing on 13 carries as well as 75 yards receiving on seven catches with a pair of scores.
