SAN ANTONIO — One man is dead and another was hospitalized Thursday night following an altercation that led to a shooting inside a home on the city’s East Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Officers responded around 9:13 p.m. to the 1000 block of Lamar Street. Initial reports indicated a home invasion, but police said the adult male resident knew the two men involved in the altercation.
Police said a physical fight broke out inside the residence between the victim and the two men, leading to several gunshots being fired indoors.
Both suspects fled the scene on foot following the gunfire. Police later located one of the suspects unresponsive behind a home in the 1200 block of Hays Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The second suspect remains at large. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle and a graze wound to his arm. EMS transported him to Brooke Army Medical Center in stable condition.
