LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock ISD says the lockdown at Monterey High School has been lifted after a reported threat prompted police to search the campus Friday afternoon.
Lubbock ISD Police and the Lubbock Police Department responded to the school after a threat was reported involving an individual who may have had a weapon.
LISD says the lockdown protocol was activated, and students and staff were secured inside the building, with no one allowed to enter or exit.
Officials said the individual has since been located.
LISD says, you may see an increased police presence on the campus as officials continue to coordinate a large amount of early student pickups, but at this time, there is no active or ongoing threat to the campus.
If you are planning on picking up your student(s) early, we ask that you enter the campus through Door 1.
LISD will have additional staff on campus to assist you in picking up your student.
LISD also wants to encourage parents and guardians to check their contact information in their Parent Portal to make sure we have the most accurate and up-to-date contact information.
They can also check to make sure they have not accidentally opted out of alerts from the district.
LISD says many times, when families do not receive emergency alerts, it is because we have outdated or incomplete information, or they have opted out of alerts.
It is extremely important that they periodically check their information to ensure they receive all messaging related to their children.
