LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – City and state leaders dedicated the West Texas State Veterans Cemetery on Friday morning.
Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham joined city and county leaders, along with Lubbockâs state senate and house representatives, to cut the ribbon.
Together, they dedicated the cemetery to the heroes who will be laid to rest there.
The cemetery will serve more than 21,000 veterans and their family members.
It is also part of the national Purple Heart Trail, which honors service members wounded in the line of duty.
