SAN ANTONIO – A suspect wanted on an aggravated robbery warrant was arrested after an hours-long standoff with SWAT officers at a Beacon Hill home Friday night.
Police attempted to serve the warrant at a home on Blanco Road near West Magnolia Avenue, just north of downtown, but the suspect refused to come outside, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
After about four hours and several attempts to get the man to surrender, SWAT officers deployed gas into the home and forced their way inside. Officers found the suspect attempting to leave through the attic and took him into custody there.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was treated for a cut to his head. No one else was injured.
A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said the area is normally quiet and described the suspect as someone known in the neighborhood to have mental health issues. The neighbor said they had previously seen him yelling and cursing at passing cars.
