Officials said the threat was made on social media, and everyone in the school is safe.
FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth police are investigating a social media threat made against Amon Carter-Riverside High School Friday morning.
Officials said the campus is in secure status as a precaution. Under district policy, that means classes are going on as normal, but doors are locked with extra security measures in place.
The Fort Worth Police Department said its School Resource Unit responded to the school at 3301 Yucca Ave., and said there is currently no evidence of an active threat. Police said the investigation revealed that a juvenile who was not on campus made a post threatening the safety of students.
“School Resource Officers along with FWISD security, utilized multiple resources to collectively locate the device and juvenile responsible for the post,” FWPD said in a statement.
Officers went to the juvenile’s home and took him into custody without incident. No students or staff members were injured, and the school later resumed normal operations, police said.
In a letter to parents, Fort Worth ISD confirmed that the school was placed in a secure status and emphasized that all students and staff are safe.
The department said it takes all threats seriously and urged anyone who sees or hears about a potential threat to report it to authorities. School administrators are assisting in the investigation, the district said.
