  • September 5, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Three people are injured following two back-to-back crashes that happened near 34th and I-27 around 10:40 p.m., Thursday night.

Police were called to the scene after an SUV, driven by 21-year-old Kelis Hardeman crashed into a car driven by 24-year old Cade Wells while traveling south on I-27.

Shortly after the initial crash, 56-year-old Ryan Patrick stopped to help. Another vehicle then crashed into Wells’ and Hardeman’s vehicles and struck Patrick. That driver fled the scene and police say the vehicle has not been located.

Patrick was taken to Covenant Medical Center with serious injuries. Hardeman and Wells were taken to UMC with minor injuries.

Both crashes are still under investigation.

This is a developing story; check back for more updates.
