EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Police in Texas are investigating after a man was killed Wednesday morning at a construction site in Northwest El Paso.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. on Paseo del Norte between Northern Pass Drive and Canyon Wren Avenue, police said.

El Paso Police Department public information officers said heavy machinery fell on a man in his mid-30s. The department’s Crimes Against Persons unit is leading the investigation.

Representatives with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) were also at the scene conducting a separate investigation. Medical examiners later arrived, followed by a tow truck used to remove a construction vehicle.

Police said they were awaiting the results of the investigations before releasing the victim’s identity and notifying his family.

“There are several individuals involved — the businesses, OSHA — so that’s going to be up to the investigators how they decide to do that,” Detective Oviedo told KFOX14/CBS4. “But our condolences do go out to the families.”
