CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Moraima Montano was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison after being found guilty of fraud, forgery and exploiting elderly victims.
Montano was taken into custody following the sentencing and will receive credit for time already served.
She was also ordered to pay $80,000 in fines to the state and $465,546.84 in restitution to the victims.
A jury found Montano guilty Thursday of fraud, forgery and exploitation of the elderly. The case involved elderly victims, including a patient who had died. Prosecutors alleged Montano continued collecting checks connected to that patient after the person’s death.
Montano’s attorney, Mark Gonzalez, declined to comment to 3NEWS following the sentencing.
