KERRVILLE, Texas – A 46-year-old Kerr County woman died Saturday night after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing Junction Highway in Kerrville, according to the Kerrville Police Department.
Police said officers responded at about 9:28 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in the 1200 block of Junction Highway. The crash claimed the life of Jeanne Avalos.
The initial investigation found Avalos was crossing Junction Highway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling east, police said. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said the driver was not impaired and no charges are anticipated.
Police said Avalos was aided by passers-by at the scene before she was taken by ambulance to Peterson Regional Medical Center, where she died from her injuries. Police said her family has been notified.
The crash remains under investigation.
