Texas woman crowned Miss America in West Palm Beach
Regan Hutsell also wins $50,000 scholarship at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —
Miss America crowned its 2027 winner at the Palm Beach County Convention Center on Sunday night.
Regan Hutsell from Texas was selected as the winner, making her the 99th woman to wear the crown and sash. She also received a $50,000 scholarship.
Miss America posted the announcement and first walk on Facebook.
Hutsell received her crown on Sunday night from Cassie Donegan, the 2026 Miss America.
During the talent portion on Thursday at the Kravis Center, she had a jazz dance routine.
She is a former Radio City Rockette and a former artist with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
The national pageant consisted of delegates from 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
During the finals on Sunday, the field was cut to 11.
The first runner-up was Miss Louisiana Shelby Bordelon, the second runner-up was Miss Illinois Kate Dimmett, third runner-up was Miss California Sharlize True Trujillo, fourth runner-up was Miss District of Columbia Evelyn Smith.
Those women, wearing nightgowns, answered questions from the judges before the winner was announced.
Miss Florida, Alexandra de Roos, received the Quality of Life Award as an advocate for people who have sustained brain injuries. The Winter Haven resident attends the University of South Florida and is planning a career in medicine as a neuropsychiatrist.
Miss America is for women ages 18 to 28.
On Saturday, Elle Anderson of Utah was crowned Miss America’s Teen 2027 at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. This pageant is for those 13 to 18 years old.
The Miss America Pageant was founded in 1921 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where it took place until 2005, and then from 2013 to 2018.
Bert Parks was the host of the pageant from 1995 to 1979. He died in 1992.
Parks would serenade the winner with the song “There She Is, Miss America.”
Each year, the organization gives around $35 million in scholarships through the local, state and national levels.
The competition was televised on the Miss America YouTube Channel.
