TV celebrity chef Graham Elliot, who helped Fort Worth-based Far Out Hospitality revamp menus and grow to a 15-restaurant company with locations across Texas, is starting his own company and will open Commodore Tavern & Terrace, he posted Monday on social media.
Elliot did not identify the location. But Fort Worth city paperwork shows a Commodore Tavern & Terrace will open at 1101 W. Magnolia Ave., a former wine bar.
Elliot and another Far Out chef, Charlie Rushton, will open Commodore this fall as a “neighborhood restaurant,” he wrote, with “great food, great drinks, warm hospitality, and most importantly, a place we hope feels like it belongs here.”
“This is just the beginning,” Elliot wrote.

The Southside property was most recently home to The Magnolia wine bar, which closed in April. It opened in 2014 as Kent & Co.
Commodore joins a spate of recent openings near Magnolia including the Salt + Straw ice cream chain, Yoichi Omakase & Handroll, the Sweet Stacks Asian souffle pancake cafe and Beren Mediterranean, a nicer Turkish restaurant and bar.
Elliot, a former judge on TV’s “Top Chef” and chef at Michelin-honored restaurants in Chicago, joined Far Out Hospitality in 2022 and revamped the menus for company founder Felipe Armenta.
Elliott fine-tuned menus at established Far Out restaurants like The Tavern and Pacific Table, and helped shape Cowboy Prime, the company’s Midland steakhouse.
He has been best known here for his work at Le Margot in Fort Worth, ranked the No. 2 “Best New Restaurant in Texas” in 2024 by Texas Monthly magazine.
Rushton, the former chef at the Crescent Court Hotel in Dallas, joined Far Out in 2023. He has a history as both a business executive and hotel chef.
Far Out also operates Press Cafe, Towne Grill and Maria’s Mexican Kitchen along with Felipe’s Bar & Grill in Odessa, the Grill in San Angelo and Bosque Cantina in Walnut Springs.
