EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — An El Paso man was sentenced to seven years in prison last week after police said he tossed a bag of cocaine out of his car during a traffic stop.
As KFOX14/CBS4 previously reported, in May police said 30-year-old Bryan Delara refused to stop near 6100 Alameda and threw a large plastic bag with 74 baggies of cocaine out of his vehicle.
Delara was arrested and charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, over or equal to 4 grams but less than 200 grams, and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.
On Sept. 3, Delara pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

According to the El Paso Police Department, the incident began when officers on patrol on Saturday, May 16, at 3:16 a.m. near 6100 Alameda said they saw a vehicle with a couple arguing. When officers approached, a woman hurried away.
Police then contacted the driver, identified as Delara, who police said is homeless.
Officers said Delara quickly put the vehicle in reverse, committing a traffic violation in their presence.
When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, they said Delara refused to stop and threw the large plastic bag out of the vehicle.
Delara eventually stopped at the intersection of Alameda and Clark, where he was arrested.
Police were then able to recover the plastic bag and said it contained 74 individually wrapped baggies of cocaine.
