SAN ANTONIO – A former teacher at Somerset Academy Collegiate was recently indicted on multiple charges in connection with separate incidents involving students, according to court documents.
Court documents obtained by KSAT show Jesse Orta, 34, was indicted on the following charges on Aug. 20:
Two counts of improper relationship between educator and student
One count of possession of child pornography
According to the indictments, the improper relationship accusations include sexual contact with two students between Nov. 1, 2023, and March 1, 2024.
The indictment for child sexual abuse material said Orta had “visual material” of a child under 18 years old in late September 2024.
BACKGROUND
Orta is accused of recording a girl getting in and out of the shower, an arrest affidavit said. He was initially arrested in October 2024.
According to the affidavit, a woman discovered the recording on a “personal file” on Orta’s cellphone.
The woman contacted authorities, and San Antonio police officers took his cell phone as evidence, the affidavit states.
Upon further investigation, officers confirmed that Orta had recorded the girl without permission.
Another girl, who was a student at a school where Orta was employed as a band teacher, told police about sexual encounters involving Orta, court documents said.
Orta resigned after the school administration reassigned him elsewhere to limit interactions with students, authorities said.
