HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating after rocks were thrown from a bridge onto Interstate 10 over Labor Day weekend, smashing the windshields of two vehicles.
The incident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday as drivers were traveling westbound on I-10 near McKee Street.
One of the drivers, who identified herself only as Destiny because she feared retaliation, said she saw several rocks scattered across the highway as she approached the bridge.

She also saw three people dressed in dark clothing standing on the bridge.
“They were throwing rocks off the bridge onto the freeway,” Destiny said.
A rock smashed through Destiny’s windshield, leaving her with cuts from broken glass. Her 1-year-old nephew was in the back seat and was also covered in glass but was not injured.
“My nephew, you know, something could have happened to him,” she said. “What if the glass cut him and not me?”
Destiny said she then noticed a semi-truck that had also pulled over after its windshield was struck.
The truck driver was hit in the shoulder by a rock, according to Destiny.
“He was happy that he didn’t swerve or veer off the freeway because he was carrying gasoline,” she said.
Both drivers reported the incidents to Houston police. Officers arrived after the people on the bridge had left the area.
Police are investigating the incident as criminal mischief.
Destiny said she is speaking publicly about what happened to warn other drivers and urge whoever is responsible to stop.
“I just want to shed light on it because the next person may not be so lucky,” she said.
She also hopes police will increase patrols in the area to deter similar incidents.
