Property owners within Humble ISD‘s boundaries can expect a flat tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27.

The details

HISD trustees unanimously voted to adopt a tax rate of $1.1052 per $100 valuation for FY 2026-27 during the board’s Sept. 8 meeting. The approved tax rate is the same as that approved for FY 2025-26, and includes:

$0.7552 for the local maintenance and operations fund, or M&O

$0.3500 for debt service, bonded indebtedness and interest and sinking fund, or I&S

Average home values within the district’s boundaries rose from roughly $346,000 last year to $348,300 this year, according to budget documents.

While taxes due from individual residents depend on the value of their homes, the average tax bill within the district is projected to increase by roughly $28, rising from $2,342 last year to $2,370 this year, budget documents show.

Some context

The approved tax rate comes roughly three months after trustees approved the district’s budget for FY 2026-27 in June.

At the district’s June 9 meeting, HISD Chief Financial Officer Billy Beattie said the district is projected to spend roughly $559.4 million in its general fund budget, while taking in roughly $560.1 million in revenue.

Highlights in the budget include more than 20 new special education positions and a 3% overall general pay increase for staff members, Beattie said.

The overall pay increase—which Beattie said encompasses roughly $12.7 million of the district’s budget—will raise the starting salary for new teachers from $66,000 in FY 2025-26 to $68,000 in FY 2026-27.
