SAN ANTONIO – The Fiesta San Antonio Commission took the first major step toward Fiesta 2027 on Friday evening, as five local artists competed to have their work selected as the festival’s official poster for next year’s annual celebration.
The commission hosted its “5 to 1” Official Poster Selection Event at the San Antonio Garden Center. Five local artists presented their original poster designs and explained the themes and inspiration behind their work. The theme for Fiesta 2027 is “Celebrate Fiesta Familia and Friends.”
Dues-paying members of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission who attended the event were eligible to vote for their favorite design. The poster receiving the most votes will become the official Fiesta 2027 poster. The winning design, however, will remain under wraps for several months.
Fiesta officials plan to publicly unveil the selected poster on Jan. 28, 2027, at the University of the Incarnate Word Skyroom during the Fiesta Poster Unveiling and Miss Fiesta Selection Event.
Fiesta San Antonio Commission President Jim Mery said the selection event is designed to give members a direct role in choosing an important symbol of the upcoming celebration. Fiesta 2027 is scheduled for April 15-25.
Fiesta San Antonio traces its roots to 1891, when the celebration began with a parade honoring the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. It has since grown into a citywide festival featuring more than 100 official events organized by nonprofit Fiesta member organizations.
According to the Fiesta San Antonio Commission, the annual celebration generates an economic impact of more than $340 million while helping participating nonprofits raise money for scholarships, cultural programs, military organizations, children’s programs, animal welfare efforts and other community causes.
