Texas SNAP recipients affected by Tropical Storm Edouard have additional time to request replacement benefits for food that was lost or destroyed because of the storm.
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission said the U.S. Department of Agriculture approved extending the reporting period from 10 days to 20 days in Angelina, Galveston, Hardin, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity and Tyler counties.
Recipients must apply by Sept. 21, 2026. Replacement funds are expected to be added to Lone Star Cards within two business days after a request is received.
SNAP recipients can request assistance by calling 2-1-1, selecting a language and then choosing option 7. Requests can also be made at a local HHSC office. Office locations are available at YourTexasBenefits.com by selecting “Find an Office.”
WIC participants may also qualify for replacement benefits if September food benefits were lost because of power outages or storm damage. They should contact their local WIC office by Sept. 30, 2026. Local office information is available at TexasWIC.org.
People affected by the storm can call 2-1-1 and select option 1 for information about local resources, including food and shelter.
