SAN ANTONIO – A man was detained after a woman died in a shooting on the South Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers responded to the shooting just before 8 p.m. Saturday in the 8500 block of Presa Street.

The 70-year-old man contacted police before officers arrived because the woman was “bothering him,” according to an SAPD preliminary report.

When officers arrived, they saw the man outside. He told officers he had shot the 62-year-old woman inside the house, police said.

Officers entered the home and saw the woman had suffered a gunshot wound, the report states. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was detained at the scene, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
