A woman was killed late Sunday in a Far North Dallas condo fire, officials say.

Crews were dispatched shortly before midnight to the Willow Greene Condominium complex at 17490 Meandering Way, near Preston Ridge Trail, according to Jason Evans, a Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman.

Firefighters reported heavy fire coming from a second-floor balcony and out of the roof of one of the buildings, Evans said. After forcing their way inside, they found the blaze had also spread to the back rooms and the attic.

It took just over an hour to extinguish, according to Evans.

While fighting the fire, Evans said crews found a woman lying unresponsive in a hallway. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

The cause of the fire, which did not damage any other condominiums, remains under investigation, but Evans said it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
