UH adjunct banned from campus also removed from Houston City College classes, emails show

  • September 15, 2026

Houston – An adjunct faculty member placed on administrative leave and banned from the University of Houston amid an investigation into allegations involving child sexual exploitation was also removed from classes at Houston City College, according to internal emails obtained by KPRC 2.

The faculty member taught two GOVT 2305 federal government classes at HCC’s Central Campus.

In an email sent Friday, an HCC administrator informed college leaders about the allegations and said steps were already being taken to “ensure continuity of instruction and minimize disruption for students.”

The emails show administrators began working to find replacement instructors for both classes, which meet Mondays and Wednesdays.

Four dual-credit students enrolled in the courses were also set to be transferred to another class. Dual-credit students are generally high school students who simultaneously earn high school and college credit.

An HCC college president responded to the email by asking whether any of the dual-credit students had been “approached.” The administrator also copied a dean who, the email stated, “should advise counseling.”

HCC requested campus police presence

As an additional precaution, HCC’s government chair requested that a campus police officer attend both classes Monday while the college addressed the staffing change.

An email sent to HCC Police described the matter only as “a faculty staffing situation currently being addressed.”

The two classes were scheduled to meet at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at HCC’s Central Campus on Holman Street.

KPRC 2 has reached out to Houston City College. A spokesperson sent the following statement:

“Houston City College is aware of reports concerning an adjunct faculty member. The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority. Upon learning of the allegations, the college immediately placed the individual on administrative leave and initiated a review consistent with college policies and procedures. While we do not comment further on personnel matters, we remain committed to maintaining a safe learning and working environment and will continue to take appropriate action based on the information available to us.”

Investigation began at University of Houston

The University of Houston previously confirmed that the same person was an adjunct faculty member and graduate student at UH.

UH said it became aware of the situation after receiving a report of an ongoing disruption on campus. University police responded and questioned the faculty member.

According to the university, a video circulating online included a discussion of child sexual exploitation and child sexual abuse material.

“The University of Houston is deeply concerned by these disturbing allegations and is treating them with the utmost seriousness,” A UH spokesperson said in a statement.

The university placed the faculty member on administrative leave and banned the individual from returning to campus.

UH said the case would be investigated by a specialized task force within the Houston Police Department because of the nature of the allegations.

“The University has zero tolerance for child exploitation, abuse or child sexual abuse materials,” the university spokesperson said.

As of Monday, authorities had not announced any criminal charges against the faculty member. KPRC 2 is therefore not identifying the individual at this time.
