SAN ANTONIO – We’re gearing up for our annual Healing Hearts phone bank!
It’s to help raise money for the ThriveWell Cancer Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides support to cancer patients.
The mission to support ThriveWell is very personal.
FOX SA anchor Karen Martinez received support from them during her cancer journey before she passed in 2013. Her dying wish was for us to continue to support its mission, and we have stuck to that promise.
The phone bank is happening this Thursday.
ThriveWell provides a variety of services to help cancer patients and their families, including transportation assistance for patients who need rides to appointments, financial assistance to help cover treatment expenses and lodging for patients who must travel to San Antonio for treatment. The organization also offers free exercise, nutrition and wellness classes to anyone who has faced a cancer diagnosis, along with support groups for both patients and caregivers.

And some big news: San Antonio philanthropist Gordon Hartman is offering to match $100,000 to help local cancer patients.
