SAN ANTONIO – The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio (BGCSA) announced two of its locations will be impacted at the end of this month.
In an email to KSAT, CEO Debbie Powell said the Rayburn Club, located on Rayburn Drive, will permanently close on Sept. 25.
The Eastside Club, located on Martin Luther King Drive, will temporarily suspend programming for the remainder of this school year on Sept. 30.

Powell cited operational and financial challenges as the reason for the closures.
Despite the closures, she said BGCSA was working stakeholders and local foundations to strengthen their long-term sustainability.
For affected families, Powell said they are actively working to determine where children from the Eastside Club will transition, adding they were collaborating with nearby organizations.
For children at the Rayburn Club, she said they were transitioning to an after-school care program, but the name of the program wasn’t provided.
“We recognize that this news is difficult, and we are especially grateful to the partners who have stood alongside BGCSA and invested in our mission,” Powell said. “Your support has made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless young people and families across our community, and we are committed to strengthening our impact as we move forward.”
KSAT has reached out to BGCSA for more information and will update the article when it is available.
