The Bobcats will be without defensive end Tymere Jackson for two games. Cornerback Khamari Terrell, offensive lineman Justin DeLeon and defensive linemen Kyran Bourda, J.P. Deeter and Devarrick Woods received one-game suspensions.

Rajin’ Cajuns safety Tyree Skipper will be suspended for the remainder of the 2025 season, including any potential bowl games. Linebacker Kailep Edwards, wide receiver Evan Stroman, defensive lineman De’Antonio Lesueur and safeties Courtline Flowers and Kody Jackson face one-game suspensions.

“There is no place for this type of behavior in college football,” Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill said in a statement. “This unfortunate postgame incident overshadowed what was a competitive regional rivalry game on the field.”

Tempers flared after Texas State lost 42-39. Once the referees blew the final whistle, dozens of players, coaches and staffers pushed into a crowd near the Ragin’ Cajuns logo; several uniformed players threw punches at the opposing team. Staff members and players tried to separate players after a few Bobcats swung at opponents. An unidentified Louisiana player was seen on video swinging his helmet at a couple of Texas State athletes.

Jackson threw the first punch at an opposing player before the game ended as Louisiana quarterback Lunch Winfield took a knee to run out the rest of the game clock.

“We appreciate Commissioner Keith Gill and the Sun Belt Conference for their swift review of the incidents following Saturday’s football game at Louisiana. We also support the league’s decision to hold individuals from both teams accountable for their actions,” Texas State athletic director Don Coryell said in a statement posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. “We are committed to learning from this experience, strengthening our discipline, and ensuring that our actions consistently reflect the values of our institution and our community.
