The Sox have 12 games left in their season and are hoping to make it out of the Wild Card game for the first time since 2021. Just five wins is all they need to officially clinch an MLB postseason spot. Swiping the Rangers first would be a great start.
The Red Sox sit in the second Wild Card spot as of Tuesday. The Rays have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, leading the AL East as well as the Yankees.
After Texas, Boston will play the Rays, Guardians, and Cubs. The Guardians sit behind Boston and the Blue Jays lost on Monday, keeping them, for now, out of the playoff picture.
Texas is 74-76 overall and 40-32 in home games. The Rangers have the sixth-ranked team on-base percentage in the AL at .317. Boston is 82-68 overall and 44-31 in road games. The Red Sox have the third-best team ERA in the majors at 3.59.
The teams meet Tuesday for the fourth time this season.
