The 47th Plano Balloon Festival takes place Sept. 17-20 at Red Tail Pavilion at Oak Point Park in Plano. Attendees can catch balloon glows Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., when pilots fire up their burners and illuminate the balloons from inside. On Saturday and Sunday morning at 7 a.m., more than 30 balloons will be inflated and take to the sky. Festival-goers can also talk with balloon pilots and learn about hot air ballooning, while tethered rides hover 20 to 30 feet above the ground. The weekend also includes the Re/Max skydivers, a martial arts exhibition by the Shaolin Wu-Yi Institute, laser shows by Boom Special Effects and live music. Parking is available at Collin College Spring Creek Campus, First United Methodist Church and Oak Point Recreation Center for $15 per car, with off-site parking at Plano Event Center for $10 per car.
