SAN ANTONIO – A man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Tuesday after he killed a former cellmate inside the Bexar County Adult Detention Center in 2019.
Shandrick Buckley, 39, was on trial for capital murder. After four hours of deliberations, a Bexar County jury found Buckley guilty.
Buckley was in jail on a 2017 murder charge when he killed 29-year-old Alexander Wise.
At the time of Wise’s death, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said he was a former member of the Aryan Brotherhood.
Buckley was previously found incompetent to stand trial. His competency was restored in 2024, and he was returned to Bexar County to face the capital murder charge.
