Whether you’re heading to the airport, downtown, or the missions, the Rapid Green Line could eventually make the trip smoother. Corderro checked in with VIA officials to see where the project stands and what riders can expect once construction is complete.

The Rapid Green Line is set to become VIA’s fastest bus service, connecting key destinations throughout San Antonio while providing a more reliable alternative to driving. Construction is currently underway along San Pedro Avenue, where crews are building improvements designed to keep buses moving efficiently through some of the city’s busiest corridors.

Once completed, buses will travel in dedicated lanes, reducing delays caused by traffic. Service is expected to run every 10 minutes during peak periods, and traffic signal priority technology will help buses move through intersections more quickly. Riders will also be able to pay their fare before boarding, cutting down on time spent at stops and helping the system stay on schedule.

VIA officials say these upgrades are intended to make public transportation faster, more convenient, and more accessible for residents and visitors alike. The project is expected to provide a smoother ride across downtown while improving connections to some of San Antonio’s most popular destinations.

As construction continues, officials encourage residents to stay informed about traffic impacts and project updates as the city moves closer to launching the new service.
