EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Over 10,000 El Paso Electric customers are without power after heavy rain and strong gusts, according to the utility company’s Power Outage map.

Most of the outages are located in West El Paso, the Upper Valley, Anthony, Vinton and even as far up as Berino and Las Cruces.

A spokesperson with El Paso Electric told KTSM 9 News that as of 9:25 p.m., about 10,994 customers are without power across 55 outages.

The outages are being driven by severe weather conditions, including lightning and torrential rainfall. Restoration efforts may be impacted in some areas while severe weather remains active, but crews will continue working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” the spokesperson said.

As of this report, EPE does not have an estimated restoration time for the outages, but will continue to monitor weather conditions. Additionally, more outages are possible as the storms move through the area.

“Customers are asked to exercise caution around downed power lines and other storm-related hazards and to report outages through EPE’s outage reporting channels, and to call 911 if they are in immediate danger,” EPE said.

Spectrum customers received an alert about power disruption, with power restoration estimated at 1:45 a.m.

KTSM crews were on Doniphan Drive and captured the power outage, showing no lights from traffic lights or businesses.
