SAN ANTONIO — A 28-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy after investigators say the two connected through social media and met at a San Antonio park.

According to an arrest report, Edgar Alonzo Lara is accused of aggravated sexual assault of a child stemming from an encounter on Sept. 1.

Investigators said the boy met Lara after school at a park near a middle school. A family member later arrived and saw the boy getting out of a blue Tesla in the parking lot. The family member approached the driver before the vehicle left and then called police.

The boy initially told an officer that Lara had touched him and attempted to touch him sexually, according to the arrest report.

The following day, the boy underwent an examination at a hospital and provided additional details about the alleged assault. DNA results from that examination are still pending.

Investigators also reviewed Northside ISD security video that they say showed a blue Tesla entering the empty parking lot around 4:30 p.m. The boy appeared to enter the vehicle, which remained parked for about 67 minutes. Another vehicle then arrived and someone approached the Tesla before it drove away.

During a forensic interview at ChildSafe on Sept. 9, the boy told an interviewer that Lara sexually assaulted him inside the vehicle. He said he did not know Lara personally before the encounter and had only communicated with him through a social media platform.

Later that day, both the boy and the family member who confronted the driver separately identified Lara in photo lineups, according to the arrest report.

Lara is being held at the Bexar County Jail on $100,000 bond.
