San Antonio musicians Jay Perez and Destiny Navaira have been nominated for Latin Grammy Awards.

Both are competing for Best Tejano Album: Perez for “Le Seguiremos” and Navaira for “3.”

Nominations were announced on Wednesday.

Their competition in the category includes Bobby Pulido, the Tejano star who recently retired from the music business to enter politics. Pulido is the Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives in the state’s 15th Congressional District. He was nominated for the album “Bobby Pulido & Friends Una Tuya y Una Mía (Vol.2/En Vivo).”

Pulido won in the same category last year.

The other nominees for Best Tejano Album are Kevin Aguilar and Vilax.

Peso Pluma, the trap corridos star with ties to San Antonio, was nominated for Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album for “Dinastía (Deluxe),” a collaboration with Tito Double P.

Edinburg band Grupo Frontera  was nominated for Best Norteño Album for “Lo Que Me Falta Por Llorar.” The band also has two songs up for Best Regional Song, a songwriter’s award: “Ojitos Bellos” and  “No Capea,” which features singer-songwriter Xavi. “Estamos Todos,” a song by another South Texas band, Intocable, also is nominated in that category.

South Texas native Edgar Barrera, a songwriter and producer for some of Latin music’s biggest stars, led all nominees with 10, including producer and composer of the year.

The artists with the most nominations, all tied with seven each, are Karol G, Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, Rosalía and Jorge Drexler. All four are nominated for album, song and record of the year.

The Latin Grammy ceremony will be broadcast live on Nov. 12 from the MGM Grand Las Vegas.
