The Texas Tech Police Department made multiple arrests this week for drug possession, including methamphetamine, cocaine and an unnamed dangerous drug. Notably, non-students were arrested for meth and cocaine possession. Police also investigated an online impersonation incident in which a student’s identity was used without consent on social media.
Sunday, Oct. 5
1:07 a.m. A Tech officer issued a student a county citation for possession of drug paraphernalia at Talkington Residence Hall. The student signed the citation and was released.
10:26 a.m. A Tech officer investigated criminal mischief at Lubbock Lake Landmark, a wooden walkway was damaged.
1:47 p.m. A Tech officer documented information in reference to suspicious activity at Talkington Residence Hall.
3:45 p.m. A Tech officer documented information in reference to suspicious activity at Gordon Residence Hall.
6:35 p.m. A Tech officer investigated theft at Murray Residence Hall. A secured electric scooter was stolen.
7:34 p.m. A Tech officer released a non-student, pending the filing of charges, for failure to identify themselves in the C1-N parking lot. Three other non-students were issued criminal trespass warnings for all Texas Tech property and released.
Monday, Oct. 6
2:46 a.m. A Tech officer documented information in reference to a welfare check on a student at Gordon Residence Hall.
11:05 a.m. A Tech officer investigated duty on striking an unattended vehicle in the C4 parking lot.
11:30 a.m. A Tech officer documented information in reference to a verbal altercation at the Ronald McDonald House.
1:03 p.m. A Tech officer investigated a simple assault at the Recreation Center Leisure Pool.
2:32 p.m. A Tech officer investigated theft at the southeast bicycle racks at Horn Residence Hall. An unsecured bicycle was stolen.
2:58 p.m. A Tech officer investigated a traffic accident, with injuries at the intersection of Texas Tech Parkway and Marsha Sharp Freeway.
4:41 p.m. A Tech officer documented information in reference to an assault at an off-campus location.
5:24 p.m. A Tech officer investigated a theft at Chitwood Residence Hall. A wallet was stolen.
5:50 p.m. A Tech officer investigated unlawful disclosure or promotion of intimate visual materials at the Student Recreation Center.
6:30 p.m. A Tech officer investigated theft at the north bicycle racks at Wall Residence Hall. A secured electric scooter was stolen.
6:35 p.m. A Tech officer investigated criminal mischief in the Flint Avenue Parking Garage. A vehicle was damaged.
6:52 p.m. A Tech officer completed an emergency detention on a non-student in the 2500 block of 5th Street. The individual was transported to Sunrise Canyon.
Tuesday, Oct. 7
1:23 a.m. A Tech officer investigated online impersonation at Hulen Residence Hall. A student’s identity was impersonated on a social media website without consent.
10:56 p.m. A Tech officer released a student, pending the filing of charges, for possession of THC oil at West Village B Residence Hall.
11:42 p.m. A Tech officer arrested a student for driving while intoxicated in the Z4-M parking lot. The student was transported to the county jail and the vehicle was impounded.
Wednesday, Oct. 8
1:14 p.m. A Tech officer investigated a theft at Horn Residence Hall. A Texas driver license and social security card were stolen from an unsecured backpack.
1:30 p.m. A Tech officer investigated harassment at Stangel Residence Hall. A student received unwanted and alarming communications from another student.
5:24 p.m. A Tech officer investigated a traffic accident, without injuries in the 100 block of Texas Tech Parkway.
5:32 p.m. A Tech officer investigated duty on striking an unattended vehicle in the C1-N parking lot.
5:33 p.m. A Tech officer issued a non-student a criminal trespass warning for all Texas Tech property in the Z1-B parking lot.
8:57 p.m. A Tech officer investigated duty on striking an unattended vehicle in the C-11 parking lot.
9:24 p.m. A Tech officer investigated theft at the Student Union Building. An unsecured speaker was stolen.
10:30 p.m. A Tech officer issued a student a county citation for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 2400 block of Broadway Street. The student signed the citation and was released.
11:29 p.m. A Tech officer investigated a traffic accident, without injuries at 4th Street and Flint Avenue.
11:29 p.m. A Tech officer arrested a non-student for driving while intoxicated and possession of cocaine following a traffic accident at 4th Street and Flint Avenue. The individual was transported to the county jail and the vehicle was impounded.
Thursday, Oct. 9
4:51 a.m. A Tech officer issued a student a county citation for possession of alcohol and possession of tobacco products by a minor in the Z3-E parking lot. A second student was issued a county citation for possession of alcohol by a minor. Both students signed their citations and were released.
12:46 p.m. A Tech officer investigated harassment and unlawful disclosure or promotion of intimate visual materials, at Gates Hall.
1:52 p.m. A Tech officer investigated theft at the west bicycle racks at Murdough Hall. A secured bicycle was stolen.
3:39 p.m. A Tech officer issued a non-student a criminal trespass warning for all Texas Tech property in the Z2-B parking lot.
4:25 p.m. A Tech officer completed an emergency detention on a student at the Student Wellness Center. The student was transported to Sunrise Canyon.
4:28 p.m. A Tech officer investigated criminal mischief in the Z3-M parking lot. A vehicle was damaged.
Friday, Oct. 10
12:47 a.m. A Tech officer arrested a non-student for criminal trespass, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia at the Texas Tech Plaza. The individual was transported to the county jail.
3:41 a.m. A Tech officer released a student, pending the filing of charges, for possession of a ‘dangerous drug’ in the Z4-P parking lot. A second student was issued a county citation for consumption of alcohol by a minor. The second student signed the citation and both were released.
