Cleanup continues for a popular Houston restaurant forced to close after a fire. Nearly a month after a blaze broke out in the kitchen at Mia’s Table in Upper Kirby, repairs are in the works for the damage left behind.

It’s unclear what caused the fire or exactly how much of the restaurant’s original location at 3131 Argonne St. was impacted. A permit was filed Friday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for repair work covering 148 square feet, with an estimated cost of $150,000. The permit lists April 29, 2027, as the estimated completion date, though that timeline is subject to change and does not necessarily indicate when the restaurant will reopen

The fire broke out at the original Mia’s Table on Aug. 16, and the restaurant has been temporarily closed since then. It reportedly started near the deep fryers in the kitchen, before spreading to ductwork, as Chron previously reported. It happened around 11:30 a.m. that Sunday, before the restaurant was open and all employees were accounted for and unharmed.

The restaurant shared an update on social media following day, saying the team was working hard to get everything cleaned up, inspected and ready to reopen as soon as possible. Mia’s Table has not provided a reopening date since then.

“We appreciate your patience while we take care of what needs to be done. We love serving our community and look forward to welcoming you back to Mia’s Table very soon.”

In the meantime, the restaurant’s website also has a note encouraging guests to visit its other Mia’s Table locations across the Houston area.

Chron has reached out to Mia’s Table’s team for more information about it reopening plans and details on repairs. We will update this story if and when we hear back.
