A San Antonio man previously arrested in an online sting targeting adults seeking sex with minors has been arrested again, this time on allegations involving AI-generated child sexual abuse material.

James Kenneth Rogers II, 46, was arrested Friday after Bexar County Sheriff’s Office investigators said a search of his cellphone uncovered child sexual abuse material, including AI-generated images depicting a child who was a family acquaintance, Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

Rogers is charged with possession of child sexual abuse material, a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Rogers was previously arrested in July after an undercover investigation in which investigators alleged he attempted to lure someone he believed was a 16-year-old girl to his home for sex. Authorities said he had instead been communicating with an undercover officer.

Rogers never traveled to meet the person, but investigators said they gathered enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant on a charge of online solicitation of a minor.

Deputies seized Rogers’ cellphone during that arrest.

According to Salazar, investigators reviewing the phone found suspected child sexual abuse material, including images that appeared to be stock photos from other parts of the world or material that had been sent to Rogers.

Investigators also found AI-generated images and videos depicting child sexual abuse that used the likeness of a teenage girl who was a family acquaintance, Salazar said.

The girl was not physically harmed, Salazar said. Investigators believe Rogers used a candid photo taken during a family outing to create the AI-generated images.

“Disturbingly enough this is something that I’ve only heard of,” Salazar said. “I’ve never actually seen a case where a man takes photos of a young lady, super imposes it to a body and makes it look like sexual acts are happening.”
