HOUSTON, Texas — Tedd Schonsheck, a U.S. Army Veteran from Pinehurst, feels a strong connection with his dog, Dougie.
“He’s very intuitive and he can really understand and match my energy,” Schonsheck said of his loyal companion. “I go everywhere with Dougie and spend all my time with him.”
While serving, Schonsheck built a family with the people he served alongside, but after leaving the military, he said he struggled.
His wife later discovered the nonprofit Paws for Heroes, which connected him with Dougie.
“They found a great match for Dougie,” Schonsheck said. “We rescued each other.”
