John Christian Dupuy passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in his memory to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children Texas. John Christian Dupuy was the kindest, nicest, and most devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and friend you could ever hope to have. He was a gentle giant. He departed this earthly world on Sept. 13, 2026, after years of debilitating health issues. He was surrounded by family and friends and is having a reunion in Heaven with all those who went before him. He was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Champaign, IL. As a child he lived in Memphis, Shreveport, Philadelphia, Detroit, Fort Worth, and Overland Park, Kansas. His father updated dairy facilities after serving in WW II, and this took John and the family on many adventures. John worked at a dairy in his high school days and could spot a stellar ice cream a mile off. John enjoyed planning the trip as much as he did taking it. He was a fan of Rick Steves style traveling and went all over Europe with Dinah, Liz, Alice, and Katherine. He made friends in Scotland and Germany and travelled to see them. He especially enjoyed Oktoberfest in Munich and Mardi Gras in New Orleans. He went as often as he was able. John bled purple for his TCU Horned Frogs and loved a good Riff Ram. He was also a fan of FC Bayern Munich. He enjoyed sunsets and nature and being outside. If you were going, he was coming with you, even if it was just to the store. Johnny never wanted to miss an adventure. He always said, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could.” He was Texan through and through. John graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1965 and continued his education at Arlington State College, now the University of Texas at Arlington. In August 1967, his family moved to Overland Park, and he joined the U. S. Army. He was deployed to South Vietnam in February 1968, during the Tet offensive. He served in Military Assistance Command – Vietnam in Ban Me Thuot. He attained the rank of E-5 Sergeant, received the Army Commendation Medal, and was honorably discharged in 1970. He returned home to Pantego, Texas, and graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1974. John was a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration for 37 years and received numerous awards for superior performance and service to the public. John enjoyed his Masonic family. He was a Past Master of Tarrant Lodge #942, AF & AM, and Past President of the Masters, Wardens, Secretaries Association. He was a member of Sweet Home Lodge #576 and Tranquility Lodge #2000, AF & AM. He was Past High Priest of Tarrant #416 RAM and Thrice Illustrious Master of Tarrant #349 R & SM, Past Sovereign Master of Tejas Council #282, Allied Masonic Degrees. He was Past Secretary of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Fort Worth, Orient of Texas. He was a Sir Knight of Worth Commandery #19, Knights Templar, Fort Worth, and a Noble of Moslah Shrine. He was a Past Patron of North Fort Worth Chapter #684, Order of the Eastern Star. He served as a deacon of Handley-Meadowbrook Christian Church, in Fort Worth. He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne and Chris Dupuy; his grandparents Lena and Lemuel Spencer, Chris Dupuy and Bess (Dupuy) Hendricks; his mother and father in-law Alice B. and J. W. Myatt Sr., and brothers-in-law J.W. Myatt Jr. and Robert Proctor.
