The final preparations are complete.
The city of Fort Worth hosts its last event at the Fort Worth Convention Center on Sunday, Sept. 20.
The free farewell, titled “It’s Goin’ Down,” runs from noon to 4 p.m. It will feature live music, and a historical look-back at the venue, which opened in 1968 as the Tarrant County Convention Center, and was christened by comedian Bob Hope.
Fort Worth’s “flying saucer” will come down as part of a $700 million project to expand and modernize the convention space.
