When The Nation of Wrestling invited me, Grizz from Iris & Grizz in the Morning on 93.1 KISS FM, to be the guest announcer for their championship event The Return, I thought I was in for a fun night of suplexes, body slams, and a front-row seat to the action. I even had the honor of ringing the bell to start and end each match. What I didn’t expect was to end up in the ring, and not as a champion, but as a victim of one.
Trouble in the Studio
It all started Friday morning when Investment Queens, one of the loudest, flashiest, and most dramatic wrestlers in the Nation of Wrestling, stormed into the Iris & Grizz studio uninvited. He was furious that a few of his fellow wrestlers had come on air to promote The Return without him. According to him, he is the Nation of Wrestling, the face, the heart, and the headline act, and he claimed he should have been invited both to promote and to fight in the tournament.
He strutted in, ranting and raving, demanding airtime like he was cutting a promo live on pay-per-view. I tried to keep it cool, but after a few minutes of over-the-top trash talk, I had to do what any radio host would do: I kicked him out. I thought that was the end of it. I was wrong.
The Return Gets Personal
Sunday night, the crowd at The Return was electric. Every match was a war, every cheer thunderous, and I was loving every second behind the mic. But as the night wrapped up, the lights dimmed and the atmosphere shifted. Out of nowhere, Investment Queens appeared again, this time flanked by Isaiah “Big Cat” Ozzbourne and none other than Frank Stone, the CEO of the Nation of Wrestling himself.
Before I could even react, they surrounded the ring and pulled me in. The crowd went wild as the three of them closed in, yelling that no one embarrasses the Nation of Wrestling, especially not on live radio. Then came the beatdown. Slam after slam, insult after insult, they made an example out of me in front of everyone. I went from guest announcer to unwilling main event.
This Isn’t Over
Let it be known, the Nation of Wrestling picked the wrong radio host to mess with. I might have been humiliated, but I’m not staying down. The next time Investment Queens steps into that ring, he better keep his head on a swivel, because Grizz is coming back with a mic in one hand and payback in the other.
The Return might have been their night, but the next round? That’s mine.
