Two people in Grand Prairie died Sunday from gunfire in a suspected murder-suicide, according to a news release from the Grand Prairie Police Department.

At about 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 400 block of E. Tarrant Road.

The release said the caller requested a police check on relatives whom the caller had not heard from in a while.

On arriving at the scene, police said they found a woman with an apparent gunshot wound and a man with a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

Police said that according to relatives, the pair was married, and investigators are treating this as a family violence murder-suicide.

Officials did not immediately release the identities of the individuals.
