SAN ANTONIO – A man died after he was found face down in the river Monday morning on the West Side.
Police were called just after 11 a.m. Monday to Northwest 26th Street near West Houston Street and Travis Street on the West Side.
Investigators said people walking underneath a bridge spotted the man in the water and jumped in to pull him out.
They brought the man to shore and called 911. Attempts to save him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe the man was between 40 and 50 years old. He was shirtless when he was found.
