Auto-Pedestrian Fatality – Report #2026-02630549
Published on September 21, 2026
By Arlington Police Department
The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred Sunday night along I-30.
At 8:41 p.m., officers responded to the westbound lanes of I-30 near Center Street to investigate the collision, which involved a 32-year-old man and a Chevrolet Malibu.
Investigators determined the pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway from south to north and was struck by the Malibu, which was traveling westbound.
The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. It’s unclear why he entered the highway.
The driver of the Malibu remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No criminal charges have been filed at this time.
Westbound traffic was temporarily diverted to the Center Street exit for approximately three hours while officers investigated the crash and processed the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased.
The Arlington Police Department would like to remind the public that pedestrians should never enter highway lanes. Due to the speeds vehicles are traveling and the distance they require to brake, attempting to cross a highway is extremely dangerous and can lead to a catastrophic collision. Pedestrians needing to get from one side of a highway to the other should use designated crossings and sidewalks along overpasses and underpasses.
