After a weekend of severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings, scattered showers and storms are expected to develop again in parts of North Texas later this afternoon or evening on Monday, September 21.
According to the National Weather Service Fort Worth, some of those storms could develop into strong or severe outbursts, producing gusty winds, small hail and frequent lightning strikes across the area.
The storms are expected to arrive around 3 p.m. on Monday, with impacts lasting through the evening and into the night, the NWS said.
The Dallas-Fort Worth metro, as well as cities like Canton, Waco, Palestine, and portions of Killeen, are forecast to see a 20-30% chance of rain showers through the afternoon and into the night. Meanwhile, more than one hundred miles west, just south of Cisco, Texas, thunderstorms still have a 10-20% chance of developing.

Not all areas will see rain, however, and many will remain dry across the region. According to graphics posted by NWS Fort Worth on X, towns north of the DFW metro are less likely to see the impacts of the incoming storms.
The weather agency says, however, that low rain chances will remain in the forecast through Tuesday, September 22, impacting portions of western North and Central Texas.
In other areas, it is expected to be a mostly dry, warm week, with afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s and overnight lows in the mid 60s to mid 70s.
As for Monday, though, it will likely be warm when the storms hit, as afternoon highs are expected to rise into the mid 90s, with heat index values around 97 to 102 degrees,
