SAN ANTONIO – We’re looking at what ICE operations look like here and the involvement of the San Antonio Police Department.
We sat down with Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones to get her reaction to the shooting in Austin.

There are concerns following the shooting of Wilber Rafael Garces Perez over the weekend in Austin.
We asked Mayor Jones about her concerns and whether something like that could happen here.
As you know, we don’t have a lot of insight of when those kinds of activities happen, especially when they don’t require SAPD assistance. We want to make sure our community feels safe, is safe, and we need to have transparency about what’s going on, so this basic level of certainly the enforcement activities, as well as what is happening at that proposed ICE facility.
The detention facility is set to open next spring.
