AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is offering a new option for seniors to voluntarily surrender their driver licenses and apply for identification cards online or by phone. This initiative is available to Texas residents who are at least 65 years old, U.S. citizens, and have a REAL ID compliant Texas driver license.

Eligible seniors can visit the online driver license portal on the TxT website to begin the process. Alternatively, they can complete the surrender by calling 1‑866‑DL‑RENEW (1‑866‑357‑3639), according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
