HORIZON CITY, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 22-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly calling a former dating partner about 86 times over the course of several hours, according to the Horizon City Police Department.

Police said the investigation began Sept. 13 after a man reported receiving numerous unwanted phone calls, voicemails and other communications allegedly from a former dating partner.

The calls reportedly began late Sept. 12 and continued into the early morning hours of Sept. 13.

According to police, the man received approximately 86 calls during that time, along with multiple voicemails. Some of the messages allegedly included threats concerning his property.

The man identified the voice in the messages as his former dating partner, 22-year-old Jessica Marie Mendoza, police said.

He also told investigators that he had received a threatening email in August and wanted to pursue criminal charges.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Mendoza. On Sept. 17, a magistrate signed the warrant on a harassment charge and set her bond at $2,000.

Police said Mendoza later voluntarily went to the Horizon City Police Department after an investigator contacted her. Officers confirmed her identity and arrested her without incident.

Mendoza was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.

Horizon City police reminded residents that repeated unwanted communications intended to harass, annoy, alarm, abuse, torment or embarrass someone may constitute a criminal offense.

Police encourage people experiencing threatening or persistent unwanted communications to preserve messages and other evidence and report the conduct to law enforcement.
