SAN ANTONIO – Tx — A home security camera capturing a San Antonio police officer pointing a gun at a man, forcing him out of his home, and placing him in handcuffs in front of his young daughter, but it turns out the police handcuffed the wrong man.

The incident happened on Saturday on Avondale Ave. Keir Simpson says police were dispatched to investigate a call about a man who burglarized a home nearby and mistakenly got him.

The video shows Simpson on the ground, yelling out to his daughter as an officer handcuffs him.

Once he was handcuffed, Simpson took a cell phone video of him asking an officer why they thought he was a suspect. The officer responded saying they were looking for a black man wearing a black shirt. Simpson was wearing a red shirt at the time of the incident.

The officer then told Simpson that since he was inside his home he could’ve changed his shirt.

“i didn’t get an apology from any of the cops,” Simpson said. “All four of the cops were belittling me, making fun of me, making a joke of it as if it was funny, telling me I’m intoxicated. “The whole experience was very humbling and unwarranted.”

Simpson is now planning to file a lawsuit against the San Antonio Police Department.

We showed the video to SAPD and asked if the officers followed department policy.

SAPD told us they are working on a response. So far, we have not heard back from SAPD.
