SAN ANTONIO – Two longtime supporters of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo are being recognized for what the organization called a “legacy of service,” with Alex Peña and Christopher “Kit” Goldsbury Jr. named to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made in a press release from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo dated Sept. 22, 2026.

The organization said it is shaped by people who give their time, talents and resources, noting that more than 7,000 volunteers serve throughout the year by raising funds, supporting community events, building relationships and serving as ambassadors for a mission focused on creating opportunities for Texas youth.

Peña, a Life Member for more than 35 years, began volunteering on the Ambassador Committee and later played what the organization described as an instrumental role in establishing the first cattle drive through downtown San Antonio. The Stock Show & Rodeo said what started as one event grew into a three-day Western heritage celebration featuring the cattle drive, parade, 5K run and Vaquero Cook-Off.

In 2024, the organization said, the Western Heritage Parade Committee awarded its first competition scholarship, which it said reflected Peña’s longstanding commitment to creating opportunities for young people.

“Being a part of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is like being part of a family, and family is always there for you,” Peña said.

Goldsbury, a Life Member for more than 25 years, was recognized for his generosity and support of the organization. The Stock Show & Rodeo said his donation of 61 acres gave the Bar-B-Que Cook-Off a permanent home and created a place for competitive events and volunteers to thrive. The organization said his vision and generosity helped create opportunities that will continue beyond his lifetime.

The Stock Show & Rodeo said Peña and Goldsbury represent different paths to leaving a lasting legacy, but share a commitment to giving back through time, talent, generosity and years of dedication.
