EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Police are issuing a warning about a dangerous street drug cocktail known as “Grey Death.”
El Paso Police say it poses a severe health threat but knowing some facts about it can help save lives.
Police say it looks like fine gray powder, concrete mix or rock-like chunks.
It can be a lethal mix of synthetic opioids that can include heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil and U-47700.
Carfentanil is 10,000 times stronger than morphine, El Paso Police said. That means that tiny amounts can cause a fatal overdose, they added.
The mixing rations vary drastically by batch so users never know the real strength, police said.
Police say you should not touch it and avoid skin exposure to unknown powdery substances.
An overdose includes these symptoms: stopped or shallow breathing; loss of consciousness; cold or clammy skin; pinpoint pupils; and blue lips/fingertips.
Call 911 immediately if you think that you or someone you know is having an overdose.
You can also adminster Naloxone (Narcan). Repeated doses may be necessary because of the strength of the synthetic opioids.
