HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — A tip informing Houston County authorities about the location of the body of a missing man turned out to be false.
On Wednesday, Houston County Sheriff Matt Moulton said his investigators and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) began excavating areas of the backyard of a home along the 1100 block of Collins Avenue on Monday after his office received a tip about the location of Dustin Wallace’s body two weeks prior.

Wallace, 37, has been missing since Sept. 3, 2021. His mother, Connie Wallace, spoke with WGXA more than two years after his disappearance.
“Someone knows something about my son. I will keep his memory alive. I will not stop I’m going to keep searching. I’m not going to give up. I will never give up,” Connie Wallace then told WGXA.
The sheriff’s office recently renewed its pleas for tips in Dec. 2025 that would lead authorities to find Wallace, offering a $15,000 reward to anyone with tips that could lead to finding him.
But on Monday, after authorities dug up beneath a storage shed behind a home on Collins Avenue, Sheriff Moulton confirmed no human remains were found, nor was any evidence discovered that a body had been buried in the area.
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office is still offering that $15,000 reward to anyone with information that would help find Wallace. Tips can be made by calling (478) 542-2085 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers.
