Justina Latimer announced Wednesday that she has joined FOX 5 Atlanta as a morning anchor, putting her back on the air after leaving Channel 2 without explanation.
Starting Thursday, Latimer will anchor the morning news from 4:30 to 6 a.m. and co-host Good Day Atlanta at 10 a.m. She also won’t be leaving her traffic expertise behind, providing weekday traffic updates from 6 to 9 a.m.
“I’m so grateful for this next chapter and to be joining some of my family and friends in the A,” Latimer wrote on social media. “I can’t wait to wake up with you every weekday on Good Day Atlanta!”
The timing of Latimer’s announcement comes with a notable Houston connection. Earlier Wednesday, KPRC 2 announced that Leigha McNeil, who most recently worked at WWL-TV in New Orleans, had joined its morning team as the station’s new traffic anchor and reporter.
McNeil is KPRC’s first designated traffic anchor since Latimer quietly exited the station about two years ago.
Latimer joined KPRC in May 2023 and spent roughly a year and a half at the Houston NBC affiliate before her name was quietly removed from the Click2Houston website. She had succeeded Anavid Reyes, who left the station in April 2023 after nearly three years.
A New York native raised in the Baltimore suburbs, Latimer previously worked as a fill-in anchor and multimedia journalist at WSMV, the NBC affiliate in Nashville. Before that, she reported for WTEN, the ABC affiliate in Albany, N.Y.
Latimer began her television career at DC News Now in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a traffic anchor and multimedia journalist. She also served as West Virginia reporter for the statewide newscast West Virginia Tonight.
Before getting on air, Latimer interned at FOX 5 DC, WYPR and Baltimore’s WBAL-TV. She graduated from Towson University and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Latimer had largely stayed out of the television spotlight since leaving Houston, though she resurfaced earlier this year as a guest co-host on FOX 5 DC’s streaming show Do You Like It Or Not?
